This interactive tool requires JavaScript. Enable JavaScript and reload the page to use it.
How to use this tool
- Paste HTML containing anchor elements or enter one link label per line.
- Run the link-text review.
- Check empty, vague, raw-URL and repeated labels.
- Rewrite labels so their destination or action is clear.
Understanding the result
Screen-reader users may navigate through a list of links without hearing the surrounding paragraph. Clear link text also helps scanning, comprehension and search engines understand relationships between pages.
Practical guidance
Prefer labels such as ‘Read the accessibility checklist’ over ‘Click here’. Repeated labels are acceptable when they lead to the same purpose, but confusing when destinations differ.
